dc.descriptionThis article proposes a re-reading of the novel Mapocho by Nona Fernandez (Municipal Literary Prize, 2003). In it, the author discusses Fernandez' interpretation of the historian's mission in the foundation process of the nation, the place of the ethnic, sexual and political minorities within the national project, and the strategies of resistance employed by these groups. The conclusion is that the novel Mapocho inverts the option of national romance; insofar as rape, orphanage and incest constitute an allegory of the failure of the Chilean national project in the XX century.en-US
dc.descriptionEste artículo propone una relectura de la novela Mapocho, de Nona Fernández (Premio Municipal de Literatura 2003). En ella discuto la interpretación que Fernández realiza de la misión del historiador en el proceso de fundación de la nación, la posición de las minorías étnicas, sexuales y políticas dentro del proyecto nacional y las estrategias de resistencia empleadas por estos grupos excluidos. Concluyo especificando que Mapocho invierte la noción de romance nacional, por cuanto la violación, la orfandad y el incesto, tal como surgen en la novela, constituyen una alegoría del fracaso del proyecto nacional chileno vigente durante el siglo XX.es-ES
