This article presents an approximation to the diegesis of both objective and subjective realities within the fictional patterns of the novel "El viajero de la alfombra mágica" by the Chilean author of Palestinian descent Walter Garib. This work explores the theme of Arab migration in Chile in the context of disaffiliation, the incorporation to a different reality, social climbing, social sanctioning and the defense of the conservation of a part of the national identity. Through the travels of the Arab to South America and to Chile in particular, this novel manifests the universal human condition: the migrant and descending being.Este artículo presenta un análisis aproximado de la diégesis y de las realidades objetivas y subjetivas dentro de la ficción de la novela El viajero de la alfombra mágica del escritor chileno hijo de padres palestinos; Walter Garib. Esta obra recrea el tema de la emigración árabe en Chile dentro del contexto del desarraigo, la incorporación a una realidad distinta, el arribismo, la sanción social y la defensa de la conservación de una parte de la identidad nacional. A través del viaje del árabe a Sudamérica y a Chile en particular, esta novela pone de manifiesto una condición humana universal: el ser emigrante y descendiente
