El presente artículo intenta actualizar una lectura coherente de la novela Cocuyo. Para esto, se ha trabajado con la idea de matriz propuesta por Michael Riffaterre, y de mundo posible de Tomás Albaladejo Mayordomo. Ambas teorías permiten dar cuenta del problema de la identidad desde ángulos complementarios y a partir del motivo del viaje. De este modo puede apreciarse que la matriz propuesta es desplegada en los diversos submundos textuales los cuales, a su vez, develan la imagen de mundo y de sujeto inscritos en el texto de Severo Sarduy. The intention of this essay is to to provide an up-to-date coherent reading of the novel Cocuyo, starting from the idea of a matrix, as proposed by M. Riffaterre, and of possible world, as articulated by T.A. Mayordomo. Both theories make it possile to account for the problem of identity from complementary angles, starting from the voyage motif. In this way, it is possible to appreciate that the matrix proposed is desployed in the different textual subworlds, which in turn release the image of both subject and world installed in the text of Severo Sarduy.
