dc.descriptionIn the year 2025, a new virus strikes the planet with potentially catastrophic consequences. Given the end-of-the-world scenario, global lockdown is required. The mutated virus spreads faster than previous ones and cannot be eliminated by known scientific methods. The world is facing a health and economic collapse in which individuals are resisting confinement in limited spaces that provide neither safety nor quality of life. Latin America is one of the areas most affected by the pandemic. Reimagining the future of a Latin American city reveals the fundamental role that architecture plays in the productivity and quality of life of its inhabitants. Practicality will become the main factor in the design of living space. The building, as an object, will have to function as an autonomous and sustainable organism. Taking Quito, an Andean city, as a prototype and study laboratory, four possible architectural, typological, and urban scenarios that respond to survival through sustainable food production are explored. The results support two approaches, technological and phenomenological, in which the health of the human being is the parameter of all design decisions.en-US
dc.descriptionEn el año 2025, un nuevo virus golpea al planeta con consecuencias potencialmente catastróficas. Dado el escenario del fin del mundo, se requiere un confinamiento global. El virus mutado se propaga más rápido que los anteriores y no logra ser eliminado por métodos científicos conocidos. El mundo se enfrenta a un colapso sanitario y económico en el que los individuos se resisten al encierro en espacios limitados que no proporcionan seguridad ni calidad de vida. América Latina es una de las zonas más afectadas por la pandemia. Re imaginar el futuro de la ciudad latinoamericana revela el papel fundamental que tiene la arquitectura en la productividad y calidad de vida de sus habitantes. La practicidad se convertirá en el factor principal para el diseño del espacio vital. El edificio, como objeto, tendrá que funcionar como un organismo autónomo y sustentable. Tomando a Quito, una ciudad andina, como prototipo y laboratorio de estudio, se explora cuatro posibles escenarios arquitectónicos, tipológicos y urbanos que responden a la supervivencia mediante la producción sustentable de alimentos. Los resultados fundamentan dos aproximaciones, la tecnológica y la fenomenológica, en la que la sanidad del ser humano es el parámetro de toda decisión de diseño.es-ES
