| dc.description | The article discusses the results of a case study about the transborder dimensions of the Peruvian migration in Arica (North of Chile). Following the narratives of four Peruvian migrant man we observe how the social environment, the shared knowledge and the gender ascriptions help in shaping migrant itineraries,which are structured as controlled/uncontrolled processes in the Peruvian-Chilean border. After synthesizing the context and methodology of the research, the main analytical categories are debated, describing the theorization of the transnational and transborder migrant experiences and the way through which the migrant webs act as social and cultural capital. Afterwards, we develop the ethnographic data, focusing on the familiar and communitarian migratory practices; on the social webs, and on the migrant’s routes anditineraries. The final remarks offer a dialog between the theoretical categories and the qualitative data. | en-US |
| dc.description | Presentamos un estudio de caso sobre la dimensión transfronteriza de la migración peruana en Arica (norte de Chile). A través de los relatos de cuatro peruanos, observamos cómo el entorno social, los conocimientos compartidos y las adscripciones de género ayudan a configurar itinerarios migratorios estructurados como un proceso de control-descontrol del entorno fronterizo chileno-peruano. Después de sintetizar las características del contexto y la metodología utilizada en el estudio, discutiremos categorías analíticas clave: definiremos las migraciones transnacionales y transfronterizas, caracterizando las redes migratorias como capital social y cultural. Luego, analizamos las informaciones etnográficas centrándonos en relatos de prácticas migratorias familiares y comunitarias; en redes sociales y en rutas e itinerarios migrantes. Las reflexiones finales establecen un diálogo entre las categorías teóricas discutidas y los datos cualitativos. | es-ES |
