Some critics of Paz´s literary work consider that the main theme of Blanco is otherness. In this article we have the task to emphasize, not only this otherness brought to light by the specialists, but also, we will propose that from the core of “Blanco” emerges the mysterious presence that embraces and refers us to transcendence. Through some approaches to Christian Mysticism, religious studies, and visual arts we are given the challenge to read the poem as a mystical itinerary in the East as well as the West tradition, where the word moves from silence to silence (from where the word emerges) towards a falling into empty space, and in that way, affirms that the poetic image of the emptiness present of Blanco is an emptiness that is not the absence or elimination of reality, but a founding base in where reality is transfigured and harmonized.Algunos de los críticos de la obra paciana consideran que el tema fundamental del poema Blanco es el de la Otredad. En este artículo nos daremos a la tarea de enfatizar no únicamente esa alteridad resaltada por los especialistas, también propondremos que, en la entraña del poema Blanco emerge la presencia de un misterio que nos abraza y remite a la trascendencia. A través de algunas incursiones en la mística cristiana, la teoría de la religión y las artes visuales, nos daremos a la tarea de leer el poema como un itinerario místico, tanto oriental como occidental, en donde la palabra transita del silencio al silencio (hontanar de la palabra), hacia un caer al espacio vacío, y así afirmar que la imagen poética de la vacuidad presente en el poema Blanco es un vacío que no es ausencia o eliminación de la realidad, sino un fondo fundamentador en donde la realidad se transfigura y armoniza.
