dc.description	The objective of this paper is to follow the concept of idolatry based on civil and ecclesiastical legal considerations in the first half of the seventeenth century, after the publication of the decrees of the Concilio Tercero Provincial Mexicano of 1585 and some royal laws that emerged in the context of the publication of those decrees. The sources we use include documents from the Archivo General de la Nación, from the section Indiferente Virreinal. We also use printed primary sources, as well as bibliography consultation. We divide the article into three sections: the first, one is an analysis of idolatry in the context after the Third Council of 1585. A second, one that reviews the laws in the Recopilación de Indias (1680) and, a third, one that consists of an analysis of correspondence that two religious sent to the Inquisition to request its intervention due to the participation of civil authorities in religious issues.	en-US
dc.description	El objetivo de este trabajo es analizar el concepto de idolatría a partir de consideraciones jurídicas civiles y eclesiásticas en la primera mitad del siglo XVII, luego de la publicación de los decretos del Concilio Tercero Provincial Mexicano de 1585 y algunas leyes reales que surgieron en el contexto de la publicación de dichos decretos. Las fuentes que utilizamos son documentos del Archivo General de la Nación, del ramo Indiferente Virreinal. También recurrimos a fuentes primarias impresas, así como a la consulta de bibliografía especializada. El artículo cuenta con tres secciones: la primera, es un análisis de la idolatría en el contexto posterior al Concilio Tercero de 1585. Una segunda, revisa las leyes en la Recopilación de indias de 1680 y, una tercera, que consiste en un análisis de correspondencia que dos religiosos enviaron a la Inquisición para solicitar su intervención por la participación de autoridades civiles en asuntos religiosos.	es-ES
