dc.descriptionThis text invites you to rethink the concept of “syncretism” understood as a religious merger where the hybridization is a praise to the fruitful alliances, spread under the term miscegenation. This paradigm has overshadowed deeply particular logic and aesthetics like the Andean. Consequently, this investigation starts from the study of festive items: costumes and masks that are analyzed from the coexistence of Andean and colonial aesthetics and practices, as well as the adaptation or acceptance of the coincidences between these two world-representation systems. This coexistence allows us to understand how the materials, techniques, iconography, wak’as religious images, and rituals make the vitality of these objects possible. They have animu(spirit), ch’ama (force, vigor) and they are provided with such a powerful agency that if they’re not treated with ch’alla offerings, they can have positive or negative effect on those who wear these sacred skins.en-US
dc.descriptionEste texto invita a repensar el concepto de “sincretismo” entendido como una fusión religiosa, donde la hibridación es un elogio a las alianzas fecundas, difundidas bajo el término de mestizaje; este paradigma ha opacado lógicas y estéticas –como la andina–, profundamente particulares. En consecuencia, esta investigación se da a partir del estudio de objetos festivos: trajes y máscaras, que son analizados desde la convivencia de estéticas y prácticas andinas y coloniales, la adaptación o aceptación de las coincidencias entre estos dos sistemas de representación del mundo; convivencia que nos permite entender cómo los materiales, técnicas, iconografías, imágenes religiosas wak’as y rituales posibilitan la vitalidad de estos objetos, tienen camaquen o alma, están provistos de una agencia tan poderosa, que si no son atendidos con ofrendas de ch’alla, pueden afectar de forma positiva o negativa al que porte estas pieles divinas.es-ES
