| dc.description | This paper questions the privilege given to belief as a category to understand both the religious phenomenon and the crisis of meaning that affect our society. In relation to the theorization of religious phenomena, I focus on the current turn to affects, arguing that there is an affective, material dimension, possibly pre-linguistic and prior to belief that should not be ignored when theorizing religion. In relation to the crisis of meaning as a crisis of beliefs, I use the concept of enchantment to understand this crisis as abundance, rather than lack, of meanings. I will show that the concept of affective substrata and enchantment uncover a dimension of the religious phenomenon that remains hidden and invisible when it is studied from the point of view of beliefs. I conclude arguing that affective substrata and the concept of enchantment point to that which, without being one belief among others, gives society unity in its multiplicity. This insight is particularly relevant for its potential to mediate between conflicting beliefs in our multicultural societies. | en-US |
| dc.description | Desde el punto de vista de la disciplina de la filosofía de la religión, en este artículo cuestionamos el privilegio de la categoría de la creencia para comprender tanto el fenómeno religioso como la posible crisis de sentido que afectaría a nuestra sociedad. Con respecto a la teorización del fenómeno religioso, nos centraremos en el actual giro hacia los afectos en el estudio de la religión, argumentando que habría una dimensión afectiva, material, posiblemente pre-lingüística y anterior a la creencia que no debe ser obviada al momento de intentar entender el fenómeno religioso. Con respecto al sin sentido como crisis de creencias, articulamos el concepto de encantamiento para entender esta crisis como un momento de abundancia, más que de carencia, de sentidos posibles. Nuestro propósito es mostrar que tanto el concepto de sustrato afectivo como el de encantamiento des-cubren una dimensión del fenómeno religioso que permanece oculta e invisibilizada cuando es estudiado éste desde el punto de vista de las creencias. Concluimos indicando la relevancia que este sustrato afectivo y el concepto de encantamiento pueden tener para mediar los conflictos de nuestras sociedades multiculturales, como aquello que, sin ser una creencia entre otras, les da unidad en su multiplicidad. | es-ES |
