Abstract
This article discusses the problems concerning the mechanisms involved in the allocation of public resources towards regional development. The author analyses the effects that public policy, as an expression of government rationality, has on many of the variables linked to regional development. It is then concluded that the real aim of regional planning is to influence the formulation of fiscal policy.
