This article introduces the concepts of History and Memory as complex and divergent entities that enable us to understand the implications and difficulties of building a common history between Chile and Peru. The presentation of the concepts is done through a theoretical review of their divergent character. Together they enable us to understand the complexity of building a Common History, but they also suggest that a consistent effort over time on this issue would be important move towards the integration and improvement of bilateral relations between Chile and Peru.En este artículo se presentan los conceptos de Historia y Memoria como entidades complejas y divergentes que permiten comprender las implicancias y dificultades existentes en la construcción de una Historia en Común entre Chile y Perú. La presentación de los conceptos se realiza a través de una revisión teórica en torno a su carácter divergente. En su conjunto estos conceptos permiten entender la complejidad que supone la construcción de una Historia en Común, pero también sugiere que un esfuerzo consistente en el tiempo respecto a este tema es un gesto importante de integración y mejoramiento de las relaciones bilaterales entre Chile y Perú.
