| dc.description | This paper explains the variations of the Chilean foreign policy in its regional area between 2000 and 2010 from the theoretical approach of political leadership. Based on the typology of leadership in foreign policy, proposed by Margaret Hermann, this research concludes that the style of directive leadership exercised by Lagos favored the decoupling of Chile from regional processes, being expressed mainly by the triple crisis of 2004. On her behalf, the type of accommodative leadership exercised by Bachelet led to the recoupling of Chile to the regional processes, with its best performance during the Bolivian crisis in 2008, while she was officiating as President Pro-Tempore of the newly created UNASUR. | en-US |
| dc.description | El presente trabajo explica las variaciones de la política exterior chilena en su ámbito regional entre 2000 y 2010 a partir del enfoque del liderazgo político. Sobre la base de la tipología de liderazgos en política exterior, propuesta por Margaret Hermann, se establece que el estilo directivo de liderazgo ejercido por Lagos influyó en la profunda desconexión de Chile respecto de los procesos regionales sudamericanos, siendo su principal manifestación la triple tensión vecinal de 2004. Por su parte, el liderazgo de tipo adaptativo ejercido por Bachelet favoreció una progresiva correspondencia entre el accionar de Chile en el espacio sudamericano y los procesos que en este tenían lugar, alcanzando su mayor expresión en la actuación chilena durante la crisis boliviana de 2008, mientras ejerció la Presidencia Pro-Tempore de la recién creada UNASUR. | es-ES |
