In this paper we analyze two (hitherto not too well known) aspects of Zorobabel Rodríguez’s Diccionario de chilenismos: the language ideologies contained in the preliminary sections and the role that intertextuality plays along the articles of the dictionary. Regarding language ideologies, we show that the normative beliefs that Rodriguez holds correspond to the ideology of the standard language, which is consistent with the climate of political opinion that prevailed among the Spanishspeaking elite of nineteenth-century Chile. Regarding intertextuality, we show that the reference to other texts plays a role of argumentative support for the normative statements provided by the author. In this sense, intertextuality relates to linguistic authority, and therefore it has a language-ideological aspect.En el presente trabajo analizamos dos aspectos hasta ahora poco explorados del Diccionario de chilenismos de Zorobabel Rodríguez: las ideologías lingüísticas que se encuentran en sus secciones preliminares y la función que la intertextualidad desempeña a lo largo del diccionario. En cuanto a lo primero, mostramos que las creencias normativas de Rodríguez corresponden a la ideología de la lengua estándar, congruente con el clima de opinión política prevalente entre la élite hispanohablante del Chile del siglo XIX. En cuanto a lo segundo, mostramos que la remisión a otros textos cumple una función de apoyo argumentativo respecto de las prescripciones lingüísticas ofrecidas por el autor; es decir, se relaciona con la autoridad idiomática, y, en consecuencia, también reviste una faceta lingüístico-ideológica.
