The present research is to focuse the view of researchers and librarians on the serials value as a resource for the knowledge generation and to give a background which permits to show its importance and the advantages and disavantages of a electronic publication and also the questions that emerge around the access and use of information and the creation of new knowledge. These reseachers use the term of re-visitation in order to re-put under the point of view of the different profesionals the serials historic and current importance in front of the information storm that invade to all researchers every day.Este trabajo pretende poner en la mira de los investigadores y bibliotecólogos el valor de la publicación seriada como recurso para la generación de conocimiento y entregar antecedentes que permitan demostrar su importancia así como también las ventajas y desventajas de una publicación electrónica y las interrogantes que surgen en torno al acceso y uso de la información y la creación de nuevo conocimiento. Estos investigadores utilizan el término re-visitación con el objeto de re-poner en la mirada de los profesionales la importancia histórica y actual de la publicación seriada frente a la avalancha de información que cada día invade a todo investigador.
