Ante la cada vez más distante relación entre los usuarios y los medios de representación, y en el contexto de nuestra actual cultura visual hedonista, alentada por la masividad de las publicaciones físicas y digitales que han relativizado el valor de las imágenes, el presente artículo intenta re exionar sobre el dibujo y su rol como herramienta privilegiada del arquitecto. Para ello, proponemos volver la mirada al artículo de Robin Evans, titulado, Translations from Drawing to Building, en donde plantea con radicalidad los alcances creativos del dibujo. A través de la relectura de este texto, queremos puntualizar algunos atributos del dibujo y distinguir entre sus funciones, aquellas que se vuelven más idóneas y fructíferas en las manos de los arquitectos.Palabras clave: Dibujo, representación, Robin EvansAbstract In view of the increasingly distant relationship between users and media representation and in the context of our present hedonistic visual culture, encouraged by the massiveness of the physical and digital publications that have relativized the value of images, this article propose a reflection on the drawing and its role as a privileged tool of the architect. To do this, we propose to look back to the article by Robin Evans, entitled, Translations from Drawing to Building, were he radically expose the creative scopes of the drawing. Through the reading of this text, we point out some attributes of the drawing and distinguish between its functions, those that become more suitable and fruitful in the hands of architects.Keywords: Drawing, representation, Robin Evans
