dc.descriptionWithin the growing interest in the medium promoted in the North American context at the end of the 1960s, the Center for Advanced Visual Studies (CAVS), founded by György Kepes at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) in 1967, served as a platform to mobilize scientists, artists and architects for the design of sustainable environments. The contribution of this research lies in detecting the environmental design strategies of the artistic and scientific initiatives developed by the professors and students of the Center, especially through proposals that combined, on the one hand, city and nature and, on the other, city and information. The CAVS operated as a platform that broadened the traditional discourses of architecture through direct and transversal interaction with the arts, sciences and the conjunctures of the historical moment. Among the current social and ecologicalemergencies, similar in scope to those that fifty years ago aroused concern for the environment, it is worth highlighting the work guidelines with which this group promoted new strategies of environmental design and collective awareness.en-US
dc.descriptionDentro del creciente interés por el medio acontecido, en el contexto norteamericano de finales de los años sesenta, el programa Center for Advanced Visual Studies (CAVS), iniciado por György Kepes en el Instituto Tecnológico de Massachusetts (MIT) en 1967, sirvió de plataforma para vincular artistas, arquitectos y científicos en el diseño de entornos sostenibles. El aporte de esta investigación reside en detectar las estrategias de diseño medioambiental de las iniciativas artísticas y científicas desarrolladas por parte de la dirección y el estudiantado de dicho centro, en especial a través de unas propuestas que aunaban, por un lado, ciudad y naturaleza y, por otro, ciudad e información. El CAVS operó como una plataforma que amplió los discursos tradicionales de la arquitectura mediante la interacción directa y transversal con las artes, las ciencias y las coyunturas del momento histórico.Ante las urgencias sociales y ecológicas actuales, de alcance similar a aquellas que cincuenta años atrás despertaron la preocupación por el estado del medio, cabe subrayar el protocolo de trabajo con el que este grupo impulsó nuevas estrategias de diseño ambiental y de concienciación colectiva.es-ES
