The Blue Splendor reflects the city of Valparaíso. The band, the director of the documentary and this essay recognize it. In order to that, it is explored the band most important milestones, the splendorous time and the decline of the main Chilean port and hoy the film is capable of synchronize the identification among the band, porteños and their history. It is proposed here that the Blue Splendor capture the sound of Valparaiso, considering all the international music influence that the port received and the way the band embodies the nostalgic spirit that characterizes the city from XX’s first half which continuous to happen.Los Blue Splendor son un reflejo de Valparaíso. Así lo reconocen ellos, Manuel González, el director del documental del mismo nombre y este ensayo. Para esto se exploran los hitos de la banda, el esplendor y la decadencia del principal puerto chileno y cómo el filme es capaz de sincronizar la identificación del grupo con los porteños y su historia. Se propone aquí a los Blue Splendor como el sonido de Valparaíso considerando las influencias internacionales de la música que el puerto recibió y la manera en la que encarnan el espíritu de nostalgia que acompaña al puerto desde la primera mitad del siglo XX y que sigue vigente.
