| dc.description | An inventory of beetles of the Wildlife Sanctuary “Península of Hualpén”, an important biogeographic area in the Bio-Bio Región of Chile, was carried out in order to characterize the taxonomic composition of Coleóptera. A data base based on published research, sporadic samples and material of reference collections was made. The beetle fauna of the sanctuary is represented by 20 families, 60 genera and 76 species. The most di verse families were Curculionidae, Tenebrionidae, Chrysomelidae, Cerambycidae and Carabidae, whereas Cleridae, Melyridae, Mordellidae, Staphylinidae and Zopheridae were very scarcely represented. More studies are needed in Península of Hualpén to obtain a better characterization of Coleóptera, in order to establish a biodiversity knowledge necessary to propose protection measures against the growing human pressure. | en-US |
| dc.description | Un inventario de coleópteros presentes en el Santuario de la Naturaleza "Península de Hualpén", un área biogeográficamente importante de la Región del Bío-Bío, se llevó a cabo con el objetivo de caracterizar la composición taxonómica de Coleóptera y compararla con la diversidad regional descrita. Para ello se elaboró una base de datos mediante investigaciones publicadas, recolecciones esporádicas y material depositado en colecciones de referencia. Los resultados muestran que la diversidad de coleópteros está representada por 20 familias, 60 géneros y 76 especies. Las familias más diversas en cuanto a número de géneros y especies son Curculionidae, Tenebrionidae, Chrysomelidae, Cerambycidae y Carabidae. Las menos diversas fueron Cleridae, Melyridae, Mordellidae, Staphylinidae y Zopheridae. Estos resultados evidencian la necesidad de realizar más estudios en la Península de Hualpén, que permitan caracterizar y proteger esta área, teniendo en cuenta la fuerte presión antrópica a la que está sometida. | es-ES |
