| dc.description | The species Dichroplus elongatus is a phytophagous grasshopper following Gangwere's classificalion it isan herbivorous species, because of the structure of the jaws, the observations made and the applied tests.Its diet consists of leaves of Gramineae and many others varied species of Dicotyledoneae. The speciesalso consummes new stems and flowers of vegetable crops.The species is indeed polyphagous since eats a large variety of different vegetables of high valué ofpreference. This indícales a high density of populalion in very restricted areas. Due to this it is possible tofind specimens during all summers and part of early fall. The natural vegetalion changes quickly inthese areas because of the hot dry weather.As human intervention destroyes this habitat, the grasshoper then moves into new non affectedhabita ts. | en-US |

De acuerdo a la clasificación deGangwere (Gangwere, 1965) es una especie herbívora, así lo señalan sus mandíbulas y las observacionesdirectas realizadas, como también los test aplicados. En su dieta se consultan hojas de Gramineae y variasDicotyledoneae. También consume flores y tallos tiernos.La gran variedad de plantas de preferencia de valor alto indica que la especie es altamente polífaga,lo cual explica la alta densidad que alcanzan las poblaciones en áreas bastante restringidas. Tambiénexplica su presencia a través de todo el verano e incluso bien adelantado el otoño, en una zona en que lavegetación, por efectos del calor, se sucede muy rápidamente. Otro factor que poco afecta a Dichropluselongatus es la alta intervención antrópica que en oportunidades destruyen sus hábitats naturales, perosobreviven en zonas que ocupan al desplazarse de sus hábitats destruidos. | es-ES |
