En esta línea , la doctrina socrática que rescataPlatón en "El Banquete " lleva la reflexión a su punto más alto. Siendo el amor una corrientede afecto que va del amante al amado, cabe preguntarse qué circunstancia es la que desencadenadicha dinámica . Respondiendo a este interrogante, Sócrates afirma, en el mencionado diálogoplatónico , que el Amor es, en sus etapas iniciales, un deseo del amado, pero en su fase superiores un deseo de la Belleza presente en el amado.
