The article will focus on Aristotle’s classic definition of Aristocracy,analyzing the specific example of the city of Carthage and its aristocratic constitution, which was mentioned by Aristotle himself. The singularityof the political constitution of this North African city will be emphasized,becauseas it is an unknown case with certain special characteristics -whetherpositive or negative- for the study of antiquity, especially since Carthagedid not belong to the Greek cultural context. Nevertheless, this city and itsconstitution followed a similar course in political evolution comparable tothat of other Greek polis.El artículo se centrará en la definición clásica del concepto político deAristocracia según Aristóteles, analizando el caso específico de la ciudad deCartago y su constitución aristocrática, el cual fue mencionado por el propioAristóteles. Se destacará la particularidad de la constitución política de estaciudad norteafricana por ser un caso poco conocido y de característicasespeciales -sean positivas o negativas- para el estudio de la Antigüedad,especialmente porque Cartago no pertenecía al contexto cultural griego.No obstante, esta ciudad y su constitución siguió un derrotero similar enevolución política comparable al de otras polis griegas.
