| dc.description | The Cynic schoool of philosophy represented one of the most peculiar culturalmovements in Antiquity. The Cynic philosophers, like the street dogs thatgave them their name, were marginal figures in the society of the Greek poleis.However, they were the first to invent the idea of a “citizenship of the world”,i· e., a “cosmopolitism”. The aim of this paper is to study the Cynic concept ofcosmopolitism, with a view to determine its positive or negative value in thecontext of the mentality of the Hellenistic world, and to observe the similaritiesand differences between that ancient cosmopolitism and the idea of cosmopolitismthat emerges from our globalised world. | en-US |
| dc.description | La escuela cínica de filosofía supone uno de los movimientos culturales máspeculiares de la Antigüedad. Los filósofos cínicos, como los perros callejeros que lesdieron su nombre, fueron figuras marginales en la sociedad de las poleis griegas. Sinembargo, fueron ellos los primeros en formular la idea de una “ciudadanía del mundo”,es decir, un “cosmopolitismo”. El objetivo de este artículo es estudiar el conceptocínico de cosmopolitismo con vistas a determinar su valor positivo o negativo enel contexto de la mentalidad del mundo helenístico, y observar las similitudes ydiferencias entre el cosmopolitismo antiguo y la idea de cosmopolitismo que surgede nuestro mundo globalizado. | es-ES |
