dc.description	This essay intends to describe some important facts that have sustained the survival of the Mapuche language and culture in Chile, South America. The analysis of a corpus collected in situ from diverse contexts including social events, material objects, cultural institutions, ritual ceremonies and supernatural events leads to conclude that brief and longer utterances elicited by native and some non native speakers, both positively or negatively, have remained throughout the times in the Chilean society in a situation of dinomia from the linguistic and sociocultural point of view. This group of ritual symbols encodes past and present beliefs and cultural values that have remained up to the present, thus contributing positively in the encouragement and permanence of the Mapuche language and culture in Chile.	en-US
dc.description	Este ensayo describe la importancia de los enunciados simbólicos del mapudungun (lengua mapuche) como fuente de sustentación y estímulo para reforzar la permanencia de la lengua y la cultura mapuche dentro de la sociedad chilena con carácter de dinomia sociolingüística. El análisis de un corpus de datos obtenidos in situ en diversos contextos de utilización positiva o negativa de algunos conceptos o denominaciones que incluyen acontecimientos sociales, objetos e instituciones culturales, ceremonias rituales y eventos sobrenaturales, hace posible concluir que muchos enunciados breves o de mayor longitud se han perpetuado a través del tiempo. De este modo, forman parte de una simbología ritual cuya utilización codifica las creencias y los valores que se han mantenido en la sociedad, enfatizando positivamente la vigencia de la lengua y los contenidos culturales mapuche.	es-ES
