Resumo: Esta pesquisa trata da criação de sinais-termos na Língua de Sinais Brasileira – LSB, a partir de imagens que representam fatos históricos. Para o historiador, a escrita da história implica velar a memória do acontecido e, para que o acontecido seja melhor compreendido pelos surdos brasileiros, as imagens históricas, que possuem um valor textual, precisam ser representadas por sinais. As representações imagéticas – união do sentido e da imagem - possuem um significado semântico rico, capaz de atribuir aos sinais conteúdo histórico e social, numa correlação múltipla entre ideias e conceitos. Assim sendo, um determinado momento histórico pode ser apresentado por uma interpretação plural e por formas mais ricas de representar, de acordo com o público-alvo. É preciso acentuar que os sinais na LSB são parte também de um sistema de signos, que se forma pelos estímulos visuais imagísticos. A LSB, por ser uma língua de modalidade visual-espacial, motiva um tipo de iconicidade cognitiva. Com base nessas ideias, conduzimos nossa investigação, com vistas a que a compreensão da história pelos estudantes surdos possa ser feita pelos recursos que a LSB oferece. Abstract: This research deals of the creation of signs-terms in the Brazilian Sign Language - LSB, from images that represent historical facts. For the historian, the writing of history involves ensuring the memory of what happened and that happened to be better understood by Brazilian deaf, through historical images, which have a textual value, need to be represented by signs. The imagistic representations - union of sense and image - have a rich semantic meaning, able to assign signals to historical and social content, a multiple correlation between ideas and concepts. That way, a particular historical moment can be submitted by a plural and richer ways of representing interpretation, according to the target audience. It must be stressed that the signals in LSB are also part of a system of signs that forms the imagistic visual stimuli. The LSB, as a language of visual-spatial modality, motivates a kind of cognitive iconicity. Based on these ideas, we conducted our investigation with the view that an understanding of history by deaf students can be made by the resources that the LSB offers.
