An investigation is offered with teachers in early childhood education training, in order to compare the evolution on the concept of heritage and the purposes of heritage education, when taking an optional subject related to heritage and school; a period with little attention to the results of teaching practices. Through a pre-test and post- test questionnaire, quantitative and qualitative data on the progress of the students are obtained. The results show an advance in the conception of heritage and its usefulness in school. From a material and contemplative typology, one passes to a comprehensive vision, useful for knowing the environment through the identification of symbolic and identity values. Therefore, the goodness of working on patrimonial education with teachers in training of this educational stage is induced, to improve the approach to heritage from the earliest ages of children.Se ofrece una investigación con profesorado en formación de educación infantil, con objeto de comparar la evolución sobre el concepto de patrimonio y las finalidades de la educación patrimonial, al cursar una asignatura optativa relacionada con el patrimonio y la escuela; un periodo con poca atención en cuanto a los resultados de las prácticas docentes. A través de un cuestionario pre-test y pos-test, se obtienen datos cuantitativos y cualitativos del progreso del alumnado. Los resultados muestran un avance en la concepción del patrimonio y su utilidad en la escuela; de una tipología material y contemplativa, se pasa a una visión integral, de utilidad para conocer el entorno a través de la identificación de valores simbólicos e identitarios. Se induce, por tanto, la bondad de trabajar la educación patrimonial con profesorado en formación de esta etapa educativa, para mejorar el acercamiento al patrimonio desde las primeras edades de los niños.
