dc.descriptionThis article analyzes the historical process of construction of the idea of the future in the concerns of the elites of the city of Pereira at Colombia during the 1930s and its implication in the projection of the modern city. Local newspaper sources such as El Diario, S.M.P and Panoramas were reviewed. The results show that local elites planned the future of Pereira based on a critical conception of the city, which valued the rapid urban development achieved in a few decades since its foundation in 1863 and, at the same time, showed the city as an unfinished project that needed to follow the path of material, infrastructural and cultural progress. Likewise, it is concluded that the elites of Pereira had a repeated concern for the future Pereira that was framed in achievable projections that were based on a high level of self-confidence, the leadership of voluntary associations of the civil society and the conviction in progress.en-US
dc.descriptionEste artículo analiza el proceso histórico de construcción de la idea de futuro en las preocupaciones de las élites de la ciudad de Pereira en Colombia durante la década de los años treinta y su implicación en la proyección de la urbe moderna. Se revisaron fuentes hemerográficas locales como El Diario, S.M.P y Panoramas. Como resultado se obtiene que las élites locales planearon el futuro de Pereira a partir de una concepción crítica de la ciudad en la que se valoraba el rápido desarrollo urbano alcanzado en pocas décadas desde la fundación en 1863 y, al mismo tiempo, se mostraba a la ciudad como un proyecto inacabado que necesitaba recorrer el camino del progreso material, infraestructural y cultural. Así mismo, se concluye que las élites de la ciudad tuvieron una preocupación reiterada por la Pereira futura que se enmarcó en proyecciones realizables que se fundamentaron en un alto nivel de autoconfianza, el liderazgo de las asociaciones voluntarias de la sociedad civil y en la convicción en el progreso.es-ES
