| dc.description | this article examines the interpersonal violence like a daily facet of the chilean society of 19th century. in this century, the violence was not a penalized conduct and was a cross-sectional idea to all the groups and social spaces and were expressed from the domestic violence to rural banditry characteristic of 19th century, being used like as a mean of resolution of conflicts or strategy to survival and to like a reinfor - cing of the masculinity. in addition, the violence was legitimized by the courts, who emphasized the necessity to punish conducts considered transgressions, before to distribute justice. the violence also was facilitated by the bad conditions of life of the chilean villages of 19th century and thigh social confliction, exceeding the effectiveness of the state codes of control of the violence through its judicial organisms. | en-US |
| dc.description | Este artículo examina la violencia interpersonal como una faceta cotidiana de la sociedad chilena del siglo XIX. En este siglo, la violencia no fue una conducta punible y fue una idea transversal a todos los grupos y espacios sociales y se expresaba desde la violencia intrafamiliar hasta el bandolerismo rural característico del siglo XIX, usándose como un medio de resolución de conflictos cotidianos o como estrategia de supervivencia y hasta como un reforzamiento de la masculinidad. Además, la violencia era legitimada por los tribunales, quienes enfatizaban la necesidad de castigar conductas consideradas sancionables, antes que impartir justicia. La violencia también era facilitada por las malas condiciones de vida de las aldeas chilenas del siglo XIX y la alta conflictividad social, sobrepasando la eficacia de los códigos estatales de control de la violencia a través de sus organismos judiciales. | es-ES |
