This work presents a theological study of Saint Michael the Archangel, based mainly on the work of the Flemish Jesuit Cornelius À Lapide (1567-1637). The analysis is presented according to the order in which the archangel is mentioned in the Holy Scriptures, starting from the prophecy of Daniel, going through the epistle of Judas Thaddeus, until reaching its mentions in the Apocalypse. The presence of Saint Michael in the history of the cult and Catholic liturgy, and its historical significance, are also reviewed. This article can be taken as an introduction to the classical theology and biblical exegesis of Saint Michael the Archangel.En este trabajo se presenta un estudio teológico del arcángel San Miguel partiendo principalmente de la obra del jesuita flamenco Cornelio A. Lapide (1567-1637). El análisis se expone según el orden en que el arcángel es mencionado en las Sagradas Escrituras, iniciando por la profecía de Daniel, pasando por la epístola de Judas Tadeo, hasta llegar a sus menciones en el Apocalipsis. También se revisa la presencia de San Miguel en la historia del culto y la liturgia católica, y su significado histórico. Este artículo puede ser tomado como una introducción a la teología y exégesis bíblica clásicas del arcángel San Miguel.
