The aim of this paper is to present a reflection on the fundamental problem of biblical existential hermeneutics: the pragmatic one of understanding; this in order, first of all, to understand how the human being is able to understand himself in his daily life and, Secondly, how does the biblical event, from the standpoint of existential herme-neutics, establish a relationship between the world of reader and the many possible worlds contained in the biblical text. By pragmatic understanding is meant the exis-tential hermeneutical process that involves in a single movement the interpretation and updating of the text in the understanding of itself, of the world of the text and the verification of the conditions of possibility of change, metanoia, when the work of art demands the change of life from both the personal and the collective.El objetivo de este artículo es presentar una reflexión acerca del problema fundamen-tal de la hermenéutica existencial bíblica: la pragmática de la comprensión; esto con el fin de, en primer lugar, entender cómo el ser humano es capaz de comprenderse en su cotidianidad y, en segundo lugar, de qué manera el acontecimiento bíblico, desde la hermenéutica existencial, funda una relación entre el mundo del texto y el lector y los múltiples mundos posibles que surgen en el proceso interpretativo. Se entiende por pragmática de la comprensión el proceso hermenéutico existencial que involucra en un solo movimiento la interpretación y la actualización del texto en la comprensión de sí, del mundo del texto y la verificación de las condiciones de posibilidad del cam-bio, metanoia; esto cuando la obra de arte reclama el cambio de vida ya sea desde lo personal y lo colectivo.
