The development of the so-called immaculist controversy has its origin in the apoc-ryphal Gospels, specifically in the Protoevangelium of Santiago. Although all the problems will have its climax in the middle ages, with reference to the writings of San Agustin, and having as main protagonists to Saint Thomas of Aquino and Duns Scoto, indeed along the traffic that goes from the first centuries of Christianity until the twelfth century, we will be finding mild references that serve as props to explain the conceptionist belief. In this article we intend to remove the main brush strokes immaculists, which served to strengthen that, during this time, a rather unknown, to ultimately end up becoming the dogma of the immaculate conception of the Virgin.El desarrollo de la denominada “controversia inmaculista” tiene su origen en los evangelios apócrifos, concretamente en el Protoevangelio de Santiago. Si bien toda la problemática tendrá su punto álgido en la Edad Media, tomando como referencia los escritos de San Agustín, y teniendo como principales protagonistas a Santo Tomás de Aquino y a Duns Scoto, lo cierto es que a lo largo del tránsito que va desde los prime-ros siglos del cristianismo hasta el siglo XII, vamos a ir encontrando leves referencias que servirán de puntales para fundamentar la creencia concepcionista. En este artículo pretendemos extraer las principales pinceladas inmaculistas, que durante este tiempo, un tanto desconocido, sirvieron para afianzar el que, a la postre, terminaría convirtiéndose en el dogma de la Inmaculada Concepción de la Virgen.
