dc.description	Even though Neruda sometimes pointed out his “metaphysical works” todifferentiate them from his contingent poetry, the existential background of his work is evident, especially during the last stage of his lyrical creation. His questions related Neruda´s essential concern about the concrete and unique existence of mankind, chiefly that of mankind and its history as well as that of the self and its individual conditioning threatened by death. This paper highlights the constant question-like attitude. This type of attitude is the one that the poet employs to face the outside world and reality and his own, which turns into an interpretative key to his work. From Neruda´s beginning, his poetry intended to be all-embracing, questioning himself a gamut of aspects pertaining to reality. This does not imply necessarily a discourse dealing with a cognitive or philosophical function, but rather a metaphorical one, which focuses on “what reality is all about”.	en-US
dc.description	Aun cuando el mismo Neruda se haya referido, en más de una ocasión, a sus “libros metafísicos” para diferenciarlos de su poesía contingente, es evidente el fundamento existencial de su obra, especialmente en la última etapa de su creación lírica, en cuanto las interrogantes encauzan la esencial preocupación del poeta por la existencia concreta y singular del hombre, en particular del hombre y su historia, y del “yo” y su circunstancia de individuo amenazado por la muerte. Al respecto, este artículo pone de relieve la permanente actitud de interrogación con la que el poeta se enfrenta al mundo, a la realidad externa y a la suya propia lo cual se convierte en clave interpretativa de su obra. Desde sus comienzos, la poesía de Neruda pretende ser totalizadora, interrogándose sobre los más diversos aspectos de la realidad, lo cual no implica necesariamente un discurso en función cognoscitiva ni filosófica, sino metafórico que también se interesa por “saber lo que las cosas son”.	es-ES
