The censorship unleashed after the 1973 coup d’état not only affected the production of written texts, but also the circulation of images. On the one hand, the visual representation of the political enemy was annulled, who was devoid of face, body and humanity, reduced to a traitor and terrorist. On the other, and in parallel, the representation of certain key figures in the national reconstruction project was exalted: women and infants as symbols of re-foundation, purity, subordination and a way of embodying an exemplary body-nation. This article aims to reveal under which discourses these corporalities are brought to the scene in this new Chile. For this, its presence in the press will be analyzed, between 1973 and 1975. However, in order to understand the predilection for its representation, the previous period will be briefly examined, tracing its continuityLa censura desencadenada tras el Golpe de Estado de 1973 no sólo afectó la producción de textos escritos, sino también la circulación de imágenes. Por una parte, se anuló la representación visual del enemigo político, quién fue desprovisto de rostro, cuerpo y humanidad, reducido al traidor y terrorista. Por otra, y de manera paralela, se exaltó la representación de determinadas figuras claves en el proyecto de reconstrucción nacional: la mujer y las y los infantes como símbolos de la refundación, pureza, subordinación y forma de encarnar un cuerpo-nación ejemplificador. Este artículo pretende develar bajo qué discursos estas corporalidades son traídas a escena en este nuevo Chile. Para ello se analizará su presencia en la prensa, entre 1973 y 1975. Con todo, para entender la predilección por su representación, se examinará brevemente el período anterior, trazando su continuidad.
