The following text examines on the one hand, the temporal structure of the ruins, trying to design in this examination their memorial power. It is postulated that the temporal structure of the ruinous goes far beyond the dimension of a watertight past, in which the supposed opacity and mutism of the ruins would rest. Rather, we try to think of the ruin as a dynamic temporal support that mobilizes a past, but in whose temporality dwells the latency of a future. On the other hand, we suggest here a route to think some ruinous devices of the recent past in Chile. This articulation of the motif of ruins with a precise moment in Chilean history seeks, finally, to contribute to the reflections on the 50th anniversary of the civil-military coup d’état in our country.El siguiente texto examina, por una parte, la estructura temporal de las ruinas, intentando diseñar en este examen su potencia memorial. Se postula que la estructura temporal de lo ruinoso rebasa con creces la dimensión de un pasado estanco, en el que reposaría la supuesta opacidad y mutismo de las ruinas. Más bien, se intenta pensar la ruina como un soporte temporal dinámico que moviliza un pasado, pero en cuya temporalidad habita la latencia de un porvenir. Por otra parte, se sugiere aquí una ruta para pensar algunos dispositivos ruinosos del pasado reciente en Chile. Esta articulación del motivo de las ruinas con un momento preciso de la historia chilena busca, por último, aportar a las reflexiones a propósito de los 50 años del golpe de Estado cívico-militar en nuestro país.
