dc.descriptionThis is an ethnographic work that is based on experiences of humiliation and shame among the population of a small ranch located between the Sierra Madre del Sur and the Pacific Ocean, in the state of Guerrero, Mexico. In 1972, many people from that town were subjected to various processes of violence, at the hands of the Mexican army, for accusing them of being linked to guerrilla movements. In this context, the article gives special relevance to those violent practices that generated humiliation and shame among those who suffered them. It is argued that the exercise of violence, in its humiliating and shameful dimension, is a way of producing statehood.en-US
dc.descriptionSe trata de un trabajo etnográfico que recupera experiencias de humillación y vergüenza entre la población de un pequeño rancho ubicado entre la Sierra Madre del Sur y el Océano Pacífico, en el estado de Guerrero, México. En 1972, muchas personas de dicha localidad fueron sometidas a diversos procesos de violencia, a manos del ejército mexicano, por acusarlas de estar vinculadas con movimientos guerrilleros. En ese contexto, el artículo da especial relevancia a aquellas prácticas violentas que generaron humillación y vergüenza entre quienes las padecieron. Se argumenta que el ejercicio de la violencia, en su dimensión humilladora y avergonzante, es una manera de producir estatalidad.es-ES
