dc.descriptionRamón Joaquín Domínguez’s National Dictionary was the first encyclopedic dictionary of Spanish and had a great diffusion and repercussion in its time (and even in later lexicography). The starting point of the study is the biographical article on Ramón Joaquín Domínguez that appears in the first edition of this work with the date of his death (1848, a later date than the one that has been handled until the time of publication of the dictionary, 1846- 47). This article is lemmatized with the letter R for Ramón and not with the letter D for Domínguez, as would have been expected, which would indicate that the National Dictionary was published in installments and that the author could not participate in the closing work of the dictionary, which, possibly, was finalized by the collaborators who had worked together with the author throughout the process of elaborating the work. To verify this idea, we start by examining the periodical press of the time, since it offers valuable information about the process of writing and publishing the National Dictionary, which results, therefore, in a better understanding of the history of Spanish lexicography of the 19th century.en-US
dc.descriptionEl Diccionario Nacional de Ramón Joaquín Domínguez fue el primer diccionario enciclopédico del español y tuvo una gran difusión y repercusión en su tiempo (e, incluso, en la lexicografía posterior). El punto de partida del estudio es el artículo biográfico de Ramón Joaquín Domínguez que aparece en la primera edición de esta obra con la fecha de su muerte (1848, fecha posterior a la que se ha manejado hasta el momento de publicación del diccionario, 1846-47). Este artículo aparece lematizado en la letra R de Ramón y no en la D de Domínguez, como hubiera sido lo esperado, lo que indicaría que el Diccionario Nacional se publicó por entregas y que el autor no pudo participar en los trabajos de cierre del diccionario, que, posiblemente, fue finalizado por los colaboradores que habían trabajado junto al autor en todo el proceso de elaboración de la obra. Para verificar esta idea, se parte del examen de la prensa periódica de la época, ya que esta ofrece información valiosa acerca del proceso de redacción y de publicación del Diccionario Nacional, lo que redunda, por ende, en un mejor conocimiento de la historia de la lexicografía española del siglo XIX.es-ES
