Abstract
This paper presents an incipient investigation on the presence of Latin America as an object of curricular prescription during the production and discussion of the Base Nacional Comum Curricular (BNCC 2015-2017) versions. This paper also analyzes, in a comparative study, the space occupied by Latin America, as well as the place where it was inserted and the way it was approached in the different versions of the BNCC. Discussions on identities, affections and recognition in regard to their political, psychological, therapeutic and social functions of historical thinking and historical consciousness were used to build a frame of reference and an interpretative key for the research. It was notably found that the disputes and variations present in different versions of the aforementioned document shine light upon underlying principles and fundamentals of the Brazilian History disciplinary code’s composition. Lastly, this paper states that the search for recognizing Brazilian peoples as part of the rest of the peoples that make up Latin America is mandatory as a project of resistance and re-existence for History teaching, public education and Brazilian society as a whole.
