| dc.description | The article analyzes how health education developed in the Central Zone of Ecuador in the 1940’s and 1950’s, when the Department of Health Education had an important boost. Thus, in the first part, the text presents the formation of this agency and the activities it carried out using conferences, films and pamphlets; and, in a second section, it addresses the health education for venereal diseases, and examines the pamphlets produced on syphilis as an example of how medical knowledge was transmitted to people. | en-US |

Así, en una primera parte se aborda la conformación de esta dependencia y las actividades que desplegó mediante el uso de conferencias, películas y folletos; y, en una segunda sección, se hace un acercamiento a la educación sanitaria para las enfermedades venéreas, examinando luego los folletos producidos sobre la sífilis como ejemplo de la forma en que el conocimiento médico se transmitió a la gente. | es-ES |
