Within the framework of the advanced process of population aging, in which “Chile is on the way to being the oldest country on the continent in the next 20 years” (MINSAL, 2019), this study is aimed at exploring the minimum necessary skills for the undergraduate training of students in the area of health, in order to meet the health needs of the elderly in a timely, relevant and quality manner, in the different areas of social and health care.The proposed objectives seek to investigate the knowledge, skills and attitudes that constitute the professional competences to intervene in older people with different health conditions. La discusión se centró en analizar las competencias geronto-geriátricas requeridas en la formación de profesionales de la salud, de acuerdo con la literatura revisada.
