This article arises from the desire to deepen the Theology of Mary and the impulse received from historical criticism and anthropology, which seeks Mary of Nazareth as mother and woman of the Jewish people under the domination of the Roman Empire. We face the challenge of discovering Mary’s mistery and God’s salvific design in the ecclesial definition of Mary as ever-virgin. This mystery is related to Mary and our life, to Mary and the Church, to Mary and today’s world, to Mary and women, to Mary and God’s plan for humanity. That’s why we will address the cultural religious context in which Mary of Nazareth lived; the dogmatic and ecclesial context; the “dogmatic” definition and its value; its theological resonances and the anthropological aspects it implies.Este artículo surge del deseo de profundizar en la Teología de María y del impulso recibido desde la crítica histórica y la antropología, que busca a María de Nazaret como madre y mujer del pueblo judío sometido bajo el dominio del Imperio romano. Nos encontramos ante el desafío de descubrir el misterio de María y el designio salvífico de Dios en la definición eclesial de María siempre virgen. Misterio que se relaciona con María y nuestra vida, con María y la Iglesia, con María y el mundo actual, con María y la mujer, con María y el proyecto de Dios sobre la humanidad. Por estas razones abordaremos el contexto religioso cultural en el que vivió María de Nazaret; el contexto dogmático y eclesial; la definición “dogmática” y su valor; sus resonancias teológicas como los aspectos antropológicos que supone.
