dc.descriptionThis paper explore social representations of men. Studies have shown that corporality is a central axis of definitions of men. The methodology used was qualitative, combining interviews with open questionnaires answered by undergraduate students of different courses and universities in the city of Valdivia; a total of 13 male students and 18 females took part. Analysis of the thematic content showed that representations of men are developed in association with their biological-corporal differentiation from women, highlighting their greater size and strength, and their physical, emotional and sexual resistance as criteria for consideration as men; incipient narratives were identified linking these attributes with sociocultural influence and with learning.en-US
dc.descriptionSe exploran las representaciones sociales sobre los hombres. Los estudios exponen que la corporalidad es un eje central de las definiciones de hombres. La metodología utilizada fue cualitativa, combinando entrevistas con cuestionarios abiertos a estudiantes de pregrado de diferentes carreras y universidades de Valdivia; participando en total 13 hombres y 18 mujeres. El análisis de contenido temático arroja que las representaciones sobre los hombres se elaboran en asociación con las diferenciaciones biológicocorporales respecto de las mujeres, destacando el mayor tamaño, fuerza, resistencia física, emocional y sexual; identificando relatos incipientes que vinculan estos atributos a la influencia sociocultural y al aprendizaje.es-ES

A metodologia utilizada foi qualitativa, combinando entrevistas com questionários abertos a estudantes de graduação de diferentes cursos e universidades da cidade de Valdivia; onde um total de 13 homens e 18 mulheres participaram. A análise temática de conteúdo mostra que as representações sobre os homens são elaboradas em associação com as diferenciações biológicas e corporais em relação às mulheres, destacando o maior tamanho, força, resistência física, emocional e sexual; identificando narrativas incipientes que vinculam esses atributos à influência sociocultural e à aprendizagem.pt-BR
