Abstract
1964 was a decisive year for carrying out the process of liturgical reform. Although the early days of these reforms have been widely studied by Vatican II liturgists and historians, new documentary sources give researchers access to material that complements, deepens, expands, and provides further insight into the research published to date. This is the case with the personal archives of Jorge Medina. Various documents cataloged therein contain material relating both to the complex path of liturgical reform in Chile and to the early reception and implementation of the Constitution on the Sacred Liturgy, Sacrosanctum concilium. In light of this unpublished documentation, and against the backdrop of the motu proprio Sacram Liturgiam, this work examines the liturgical proposals that the Chilean episcopate elevated to the Holy See in order to implement the reforms in the country.1964 was a decisive year for carrying out the process of liturgical reform.
