dc.descriptionThe purpose of this article is to explore the challenges involved in the study of the phenomena of alcoholism and substance abuse within Mapuche communities, conceiving these phenomena as self-destructive behaviors conditioned by the colonial and oppressive structures faced by individuals and families. Through a historical review, it seeks to understand the depth of this sociocultural destructuring and proposes a decolonizing methodology oriented to the cocreation of knowledge about alcoholism and substance abuse, highlighting its potential as a tool for care, empowerment and healing. Here we highlight the focus on the indigenous subjective reality in a specific context of suffering from the effects of the colonial system; the culturally informed perspective of integral health and wellbeing; and the Mapuche communicative styles and modalities where conversation in Mapuzungun is the main means by which these strategies are articulated.en-US
dc.descriptionEn el presente artículo tiene como propósito explorar los desafíos que implica el estudio de los fenómenos de alcoholismo y abuso de sustancias al interior de comunidades mapuches, concibiendo estos fenómenos como conductas autodestructivas condicionadas por las estructuras coloniales y opresivas a las cuales se enfrentan los individuos y familias. A través de una revisión histórica, se busca entender la profundidad de esta desestructuración sociocultural y proponemos una metodología descolonizadora orientada a la co-creación de conocimiento sobre el alcoholismo y abuso de sustancias, remarcando el potencial de esta como herramienta de cuidado, empoderamiento y sanación. Aquí destacamos la focalización en la realidad subjetiva indígena en un contexto específico de sufrimiento por los efectos del sistema colonial, la perspectiva de salud integral y bienestar informada culturalmente, y los estilos y modalidades comunicativas mapuches, donde la conversación en mapuzungun es el principal medio por el cual se articulan estas estrategias.es-ES
