This article proposes that Roberto Bolaño’s Los detectives salvajes reveals a non-anthropocentric way of building temporality. From the concept of the spectral proposed by Jacques Derrida in Espectros de Marx, the unheimlich by Sigmund Freud, and the notion of vibrant matter by Jane Bennett, in Vibrant Matter: A Political Ecology of Things, it is posed how the Impala automobile, in its condition of an object and spectrum, indeterminates the apparent linear temporality of the novel’s narrative. Thus, it is possible to address how the novel points to a reflection of non-human bodies as generators of affect since they are capable of dismantling linear (and eminently anthropocentric) conceptions of temporal experience.El presente artículo propone que Los detectives salvajes, del novelista chileno Roberto Bolaño, revela una forma no antropocéntrica de construir la temporalidad. Desde el concepto de lo espectral de Jacques Derrida, en Espectros de Marx, lo unheimlich de Sigmund Freud y la noción de materia vibrante de Jane Bennett, en Vibrant Matter: A Political Ecology of Things, se muestra la forma en que un automóvil Impala, en su condición de objeto y de espectro, indetermina la aparente temporalidad lineal de la novela. Esto permite dar cuenta de cómo la novela apunta a una reflexión de los cuerpos no humanos como generadores de afectos, ya que son capaces de desmontar concepciones lineales (y eminentemente antropocéntricas) de la experiencia temporal.
