dc.descriptionThe purpose of this paper is to problematize the relationship between dance and socially conscious lyrics interpellated by the songs of Los Prisioneros during the eighties in Chile, attending to the narrative of the members of the band. At a distance from interpretations that usually focus on the meanings of the lyrics in the band's songs, the complex stance adopted by the Chilean pop rock trio regarding dance and social commitment –documented mainly in magazines of the period– is analyzed for the purpose of making readable certain problems around the relationship of young subjects with the body and memory during the decade. This research points to the convergence of the influence of both American and British new wave artists in Los Prisioneros –especially regarding the recovery of sixties rock styles– as well as the musical and discursive influence of the Chilean Nueva Ola on the band –with attention to the terms of its antagonistic relationship with Chilean New Song during the sixties.en-US
dc.descriptionEl presente artículo tiene por objeto problematizar la relación entre baile y letras con contenido social interpeladas por las canciones de Los Prisioneros durante los años ochenta en Chile, atendiendo la narrativa de sus propios integrantes. Tomando distancia de interpretaciones que suelen focalizarse en las letras de las canciones de la banda, se analiza la compleja postura adoptada por el trío chileno de pop rock respecto al baile y el compromiso social –documentada principalmente en revistas de la época– con el propósito de hacer legibles problemáticas en torno a la relación de sujetos jóvenes con el cuerpo y la memoria durante la década. En el desarrollo de esta investigación convergen tanto la influencia de la new wave norteamericana y británica en Los Prisioneros –especialmente en lo concerniente a la recuperación de estilos de rock de los años sesenta– así como la influencia musical y discursiva de la Nueva Ola chilena en la agrupación –prestando especial atención a los términos de su antagónica relación con la Nueva Canción Chilena durante los años sesenta.es-ES
