| dc.description | Starting from the connection between modernism and English and German romanticism, as well as from the intertextual relationship between De sobremesa and Faust , this study focuses mainly on how the differences between both works can reproduce doubts that modernism has about modernity, based on Silva's novel. These doubts anticipate, in Silva's case, the avant-garde rupture with the faith on the transcendence of language and art. Taking into account key references of Goethe's work in De sobremesa, I analyze: a) the reasons for modern man's need to embrace the totality of knowledge in order to reach plenitude and its relation to Nietzche; b) the ambiguous relationship between modernism and positivism; and, c)the question of transcendence in art and literature. | en-US |
| dc.description | Partiendo de la relación entre modernismo y romanticismo alemán e ingles, el presente estudio demuestra como la relación intertextual entre De sobremesa y Fausto, principalmente por sus diferencias en lo que respecta a acción y pensamiento, genera en la novela de Silva las dudas del modernismo con relación a la modernidad, anticipando la ruptura vanguardia que se basa en la desconfianza de trascendencia del lenguaje y del arte para llegar hasta las direcciones de la novela contemporánea. A través de referencias explicitas en Silva a la obra de Goethe, analizamos: a)el fundamento de la necesidad del hombre moderno de un saber totalizante para alcanzar la plenitud y su relación con las ideas de Nietzche; b) la ambigua relación entre modernismo y positivismo; y c)la cuestión de trascendencia del arte y la literatura. | es-ES |
