This article discusses the relationship between life and poetry by examining the self in lyric poetry.  It presents the thesis that the “I” of poetry is not ontologically different from the “I” of the poet and so far as poetry can be seen as a discourse of reality ― constituted through fiction― the unfolds from the real subjectivity, actually lived, of the author.  The article also attempts to develop a theoretical approach to understanding poetry that goes beyond the classic division between fiction and nonfiction.En este artículo se discute la conexión entre la vid y poesía a través del examen de yo lírico. La tesis que se avanza es que el yo de la poesía no es ontológicamente distinto del yo del poeta, en tanto la poesía puede ser vista como un discurso de realidad ―constituido a través de la ficción― que se despliega desde la subjetividad real, efectivamente vivida, del autor. Se pretende, asimismo, vislumbrar claves teóricas que permitan comprender la poesía de un modo que supere la clásica división entre ficción y no-ficción.
