This essay is an analysis of the concept of “Transculturation” in the contemporary Peruvian context. From the fragmented subjectivity of the novel’s protagonist, a Jewish Mestizo from Peru, this concept can be redefined. Instead of the linear process proposed by Fernando Ortiz and reprocesed by Angel Roma, whose theories simplify the broken and conflictive realities of Peruvian identity, transculturation presents itself in Tiempo al tiempo by Isaac Goldemberg as a convergence of time and spaces with borders that are often fragmented and eroded.Este ensayo ofrece un análisis del concepto de “transculturación” en el contexto del Perú contemporáneo. Partiendo de la subjetividad descompuesta del protagonista ―un mestizo judío del Perú― este concepto se puede redefinir. En vez del proceso lineal propuesto por Fernando Ortiz y reprocesado por Ángel Rama, cuyas teorías simplifican las realidades desgajadas y conflictivas de la identidad peruana, la transculturación se presenta en Tiempo al tiempo de Isaac Goldemberg como una confluencia de tiempos y espacios con fronteras a menudo fragmentadas y desmoronadas.
