Roberto Bolaño’s Una novelita lumpen (2002), although it hasn’t been studied by critics asmuch as his most ambitious works (Los detectives salvajes y 2666), is a remarkable novel between the Bolañian novels narrated by just a character (Estrella distante, Nocturno de Chile, Amuleto o Monsieur Pain). Morover, most of the studies dedicated to Una novelita lumpenlook at the transmediality in regard to Alicia Scherson’s Il futuro. However, this article solely analyzes Una novelita lumpen, focusing on the narrative structure of the novel. This structureis equivalent to the Orpheus story; that is, the initial situation altered by a disgraceful event,the journey through the underworld and, finally, the return to the world of the living. Theprotagonist of Una novelita lumpen, Bianca, goes through a journey similar to Orpheus, whose minutiae are truly interesting.Una novelita lumpen (2002) de Roberto Bolaño, aunque no ha recibido una atención comparable a la de sus obras más ambiciosas (Los detectives salvajes y 2666), es una novela destacable entre las novelas a una voz bolañianas (Estrella distante, Nocturno de Chile, Amuleto o Monsieur Pain). La mayoría de los estudios que la abordan lo hacen desde su transmedialidad con la película Il futuro de Alicia Scherson. Sin embargo, en este trabajo se analiza exclusivamente Una novelita lumpen, centrándonos en la estructura narrativa que la vertebra. Esta estructura es equivalente a la historia de Orfeo: una situación inicial trastocada por una desgracia, un viaje por el Inframundo y, finalmente, el regreso al mundo de los vivos. La protagonista de Una novelita lumpen, Bianca, hace un trayecto similar al de Orfeo cuyos pormenores son verdaderamente interesantes.
