dc.description	The purpose of this article is to analyze the fragments of the workers’ newspaper El Despertar de los Trabajadores (Workers’ Awakening) that refer to the festivity of La Tirana. It is taken into account that the emergence of the workers’ movement coincides in time and space with this celebration. The main purpose is to understand the anticlerical sense and its relation with the popular religion professed by the saltpeter workers, the public to whom the newspaper is addressed. The results obtained indicate that the newspaper, through its anticlerical stance, made an effort to rationalize the celebration by highlighting the negative aspects related to the attendance to La Tirana, such as the alleged complicity of the clergy with the capitalist system and a critical description of the image of the Virgin.	en-US
dc.description	Este artículo tiene como objetivo analizar los fragmentos del diario obrero El Despertar de los Trabajadores que hacen referencia a la festividad de La Tirana. Se toma en cuenta que el surgimiento del movimiento obrero coincide en tiempo y espacio con esta celebración. El propósito principal es comprender el sentido anticlerical y su relación con la religión popular que profesan los trabajadores del salitre, el público al que está dirigido el diario. Los resultados obtenidos indican que, el diario, a través de su postura anticlerical, se esforzaba por racionalizar la celebración al resaltar los aspectos negativos relacionados con la asistencia a La Tirana, tales como la supuesta complicidad del clero con el sistema capitalista y una descripción crítica de la imagen de la Virgen.	es-ES
