dc.descriptionThe evolution of the concept of the body, from dualist views to monist and post-structuralist approaches, reflects a transformation in our understanding, where the body has shifted from being seen as an object of control to becoming an active agent of resistance. This essay compares the philosophical conceptions of the body developed by Maurice Merleau-Ponty and Michel Foucault. Merleau-Ponty, through phenomenology, places the body at the center of perception and lived experience, challenging the mind-body dichotomy. His approach presents the body as an active and embodied subject, essential to our relationship with the world. In contrast, Foucault, from a biopolitical perspective, focuses on how power structures and knowledge regulate bodies within social institutions. Despite their differences, both perspectives emphasize the body's central role in shaping subjectivity and our interaction with the environment, offering a more nuanced view than traditional conceptions.en-US
dc.descriptionLa evolución del concepto de cuerpo, desde visiones dualistas hasta enfoques monistas y post-estructuralistas, muestra una transformación en nuestra comprensión, donde el cuerpo ha pasado de ser un objeto de control a un agente activo de resistencia. Este ensayo compara las concepciones filosóficas del cuerpo desarrolladas por Maurice Merleau-Ponty y Michel Foucault. Merleau-Ponty, desde la fenomenología, sitúa al cuerpo como el centro de la percepción y la experiencia vivida, desafiando la dicotomía entre mente y cuerpo. Su enfoque lo presenta como un sujeto activo y encarnado, fundamental en nuestra relación con el mundo. En contraste, Foucault, desde una perspectiva biopolítica, se enfoca en cómo las estructuras de poder y conocimiento regulan los cuerpos en las instituciones sociales. Aunque diferentes, ambas perspectivas subrayan la importancia del cuerpo en la construcción de la subjetividad y nuestra interacción con el entorno, ofreciendo una visión más compleja que las concepciones tradicionales.es-ES
